This is the time of the year where experts give their opinion on prospects for the New Year, predicting the outcomes of the financial and property markets. There is, however, a lesson or two to be learned from the year 2020, and one must be very bold and boisterous to make predictions for 2021.
We have seen that the world around us can change without warning. Circumstances are out of our control and we are obliged to act in ways that are out of our comfort zones. These unknown situations lead many people to act aggressively, overly cautious, even rebelliously.
The one thing that we can always control is our attitude and hence our reactions to the new challenges we face daily. 'The Power of Positive Thinking' is not just a fad of years gone by, but it remains a real antidote for leading a life full of misery and negativism. I'm a true believer that the mind can not hold a positive and a negative thought at the same time, and if I don't feed my mind with positive thoughts every day of my life, I will attract unwanted results.
Recently, I had a late-night discussion with a friend about the power of the subconscious mind and changing the results in one's life. He made this profound statement: "If you don't plant flowers, weeds will grow." The conscious and habitual planting of positive thoughts in your mind will leave no space for negativity and fear to grow.
I am not brave enough to predict the outcome of the economy or property prices in South Africa in 2021. I know, however, that the world will change again for the better and our lives and businesses will be restored - even flourish - sometime in the future. I know because I am an eternal optimist; I plant positive seeds and nurture them daily.
My advice is simple: If you need to sell your property, then market at a sellable price and sell; if you need to buy then buy now. Don't wait for "better days" to come - the right time is now.
Let's tackle 2021 with enthusiasm!
